The Royal Cheshire Show
Cheshire Show 2016
Yet another marvellous time for The Heatons WI at The Cheshire Show with another bumper crop of entries. Several ladies won a creditable third with Sally taking third place in two categories! Well done Sally!
We displayed most of the craftentries at our next sewing session in the Moor Club, when our MP, Ann Coffey, came along to wonder at the artistry on view. She suggested we should consider joining in with the Heatons Arts Trail next year as worthy participants. Something to think about for next year.
Cheshire Show 2014
The Show began on Monday 16th June when several members took up the 32, yes, 32 exhibits from our membership of 48, to the Cheshire Federation marquee at the Show for judging. The show was then open to visitors on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th June. On Tuesday afternoon I got a phone call that had me jumping round my living room in excitement because we had actually won a trophy at the Show! I don't think I've ever been part of winning a trophy before and after being in the WI for only 6 years I am incredibly impressed that we have beaten off stiff competition to win one. So there we were on Wednesday morning, Vice President Angela, programme secretary Chris, communications officer Sue J and myself, secretary Suze, all waiting to go forward to accept our prize from the hands of the bishop of Chester's wife. (The video is on our Facebook page and I'm the one who looks like I'm photo bombing to get into shot!).
After the presentation we all went round the tent to find our groups exhibits, frequently rushing up to each other to exclaim 'we got a second!' Or 'me, commended? I don't believe it!'. In total we had 3 second places, plus the runner up in the freestanding exhibit class which was voted for by the visitors; 3 third places, 2 highly commended and 3 commended. The full roll of honour is as follows:-
