The crafts produced by our WI have become known locally and nationally and we are very proud of our active group. The original Stitch Knit and Natter group, who began by producing our tablecloth, continued into the Creative Crafts group as we expanded the type of crafts that we self taught from various group members. See below for the pictures.

2017 Green Hearts craft evening

Make, wear and share a green heart

A second Green Hearts Crafty Evening to support the Climate Change Coalition took place on Thursday, 9th February at the Moor Club, starting at 7.00 pm.  This replaced our normal craft meeting.  There was a £3 entry fee on the door to cover the cost of any materials.  Like last time and the Christmas Crafternoon, there were separate tables with a different craft on each and participants were invited to move round, trying different craft techniques, some were suitable for complete beginners and all members were welcome.

Find out more about the ideas behind the event at  This event was not a fund-raising event, it was to highlight the issues of climate change.  WI members from Greater Manchester were invited to join us and it was another successful craft event.

Christmas Crafternoon Fund Raiser - November 12th 2016
by Chris S.

Our fundraiser for Stockport Without Abuse was a fun Christmas Crafternoon, held at the Moor Club on Saturday 12th November from 2 – 5 pm. Tickets cost £7.50 and included crafting sessions with a Christmas theme, all craft materials and a Christmas tea.

Tickets were on sale to members of the Heatons WI at our August meeting and to other local WIs from 1st September. All the proceeds to the charity and an impressive donation made to Stockport Without Abuse after this sole fundraiser.
