September 2021

A Note from Sue

As we slowly regain some form of 'normality' back in to our daily lives, the Committee would like to confirm that we will be moving towards providing members with a 12 monthly calendar of Speakers and events in readiness for the 2022-23 WI year.

Normally, when renewals take place or new members join, the Programme Team would have produced a 12 monthly purse sized calendar to offer to members. Unfortunately due to the pandemic, the Team were not able to produce an annual Programme in 2020 or 2021. Therefore, the new Programme Team, for the time being, will continue to work on producing our calendar in 3 monthly blocks. Most WIs adopted this practice, and continue to do so, in order to accommodate the new environment Covid has forced upon us. However, as circumstances allow, the Programme Team will produce a draft 12 month calendar for 2022-23.

This draft calendar of monthly meetings will be submitted to Committee and then presented to members for approval; approval and subsequent vote will take place at the end of this year. I am sure you would like to join me in thanking most sincerely, the Programme Teams both past and present, for all of their hard work in continuing to produce an engaging and vibrant Programme under the most trying of circumstances.

The Committee also continue to work hard on all WI matters, so please bear with us as we strive to navigate the various and ongoing challenges of this ongoing pandemic.

With very best wishes,

Sue

Changes to WhatsApp Groups

New group-The Heatons WI

Many of us enjoyed being able to keep in touch during lockdown by our Whatsapp groups ; Culture Club and Themed Thursday. With our return to live meetings, Jane and Ann have stopped Themed Thursdays, and Culture Club will soon be returning to theatres etc. There is now a need for that group to return to its original purpose.

It has been decided to retain a WhatsApp group for information, questions, general interest and even pictures of our baking, flowers, days out etc. The Themed Thursday WhatsApp will be renamed Heatons WI.

If you are already on Themed Thursday and wish to remain on the new group you do not have to do anything. If you wish to not be in the new group you can remove yourself - choose the group on your phone, go to the 3 little dots on the top of the page, select More and then 'exit group'. If you wish to join this group, please contact any of the following: Sue J, Sally, Ann M or Jane by message, email or in person.

The changeover will start week commencing 13th Sept.

Culture Club WhatsApp

This has been very useful for us all during Lockdown and Covid times to keep in touch.

It’s now time to reinstate this to its original purpose of informing members of planned trips. We hope to start organising these again soon!

For new members, Culture Club was set up as an Open Sub Group predominately for our members (and female family and friends) who like the arts, theatre and cinema. Anna Platt and Lesley Hill organise different outings and activities which are posted on Culture Club. Once you have joined the WhatsApp if you’re interested in joining an activity you then follow the link to sign up. If you would like any more information please contact Lesley and she will email you the full sheet of instructions.

Please exit the group if you do not want to receive trip/outing information.

Please note all the other specific WhatsApp groups, e.g. Craft, Ginspiring women, Walk and Talk etc. will continue unchanged.
