A Message from Kate
It was wonderful to see so many members join us for our birthday meeting in June. It was a thoroughly enjoyable meeting with a very entertaining performance poet who was very good at judging his audience. It was great to hear so much laughter in the room. The cream scones also went down very well.
We also presented a cheque to Stockport Without Abuse. Sue Westwood, on accepting the cheque, explained that it would be useful to help provide activities etc. for the children in the school holidays. Some of our members were so moved by this that they have asked us to organise a collection of colouring books, crayons, felt tips, games etc. If you would like to donate we will be collecting such items at the July meeting and Sue W. will hand them on to the charity.
The trip to Skipton and Boundary Mill was extremely successful and enjoyed by all who went, so thank you to Perveen and Sue W. for all their hard work in organising it. If anybody has any ideas about where they would like to go on a trip please let a member of the committee know or think about joining the committee in November. New committee members bring important new ideas and keep us strong as a WI.
This month’s meeting is Mel Page talking about ‘Life on a Super Yacht’, which may give us an insight into the lives of the rich and famous. I look forward to seeing you there.
Best wishes
Kate

Heatons WI News
Charity for 2025/26-As you know, in May we chose to support the Manchester Foundation Trust’s Cardio Thoracic Unit and their ECMO. We are sorry to inform you that, due to the charity wanting us to sign some terms and conditions in order to fundraise for them, which the resolutions group have discussed and decided are too bureaucratic and prescriptive, we have sadly decided we have no option but to withdraw our offer of fundraising for them. The committee agreed and asked the resolutions group to come up with another charity relating to the National Resolution. The resolutions group met and would like to nominate the Oliver King Foundation as our charity. They do work to provide defibrillators and training in CPR. There will be a vote on this at the July meeting. If anybody won’t be at the meeting but would like to vote in support of the charity please send Kate a message saying yes, or no if you don’t want to support it, before the meeting.
Raffle Prizes-We are in need of prizes for our monthly raffle. If you have any new and unused items to donate please see Perveen. Please note that if you bring an item to the monthly meeting it will not go into that evening’s raffle. Perveen will hold it over until another meeting.
